A Good Deal on a Good Book for a Most Important Week

41SxxHdA7BL._SX322_BO1,204,203,200_A couple of years back during Holy Week I read “The Final Days of Jesus” by Andreas J. Köstenberger and Justin Taylor. Together with the scriptural timeline I rehearsed and the gospel accounts I reviewed (which the book contains too), it made for a soul-stirring seven days.

We are on the brink on Holy Week 2016—when we remember the most important week in the life of the most important person who ever lived—and I want to encourage my readers, as well as the faith family at FFC, to pick up a copy (if you haven’t already) and read through it this coming week. Currently, the Kindle version is $3.99 at Amazon. I’m not sure how long this deal will last, but at least as of today that was the price. Personally, I’d say that would be a good investment of $4.

If you already have the book, re-read it again the week. I plan to do so in order to refresh my memory of all that occurred “Sunday to Sunday…in a roughly chronological order” (from the introduction). While the charts and day-to-day schedule are intriguing, the book’s feature attraction is that it is full of Scripture, their intent being that “you will first read and meditate upon Gods authoritative Word and only then read our attempts to comment on what you read.”

For me, and hopefully you as well, the most significant week of the year is just ahead. Let’s make the most of it by savoring every day from a biblically historical perspective and join Jesus in the fellowship of his sufferings and the power of his resurrection (Phil 3:10).
